Khorasan wheat is a delicate cereal that requires fertile soils and a warm climate for a successful growth. It has always been cultivated in the Mediterranean area, especially in North Africa, Spain and Italy. In Italy the cultivation areas where it best expresses its characteristics today are particularly the regions of Sicily and Apulia. Its particularly high size (140-160 cm) and earliness give it good competition against unwanted grasses.
