Cooperativas Sin Fronteras is a non-profit organisation which promotes the development, growth and integration of farms of small to medium-sized producers in South America. Cooperativas Sin Fronteras is based on democratic participation in accordance with principles defined by FLO, capable of guaranteeing quality and sustainable development, protecting and enhancing the land and its products.
Relations with fair trade producers were first forged in the early ‘80s and today numerous farms are involved in Peru, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and Brazil. A consolidated relationship has also been nurtured with Cuba, for the supply of cane sugar.
A distinguishing feature of the relationship with these cooperatives of producers has always been compliance with the rules of fair trade, and more. Mesoamerican cooperatives actively participate in the group's development policies, commercial and technical production tools, in order to constantly improve the quality of products.
The development of local markets is the primary objective of Cooperativas Sin Fronteras, which to date involves more than 10,000 families of producers.
